Fixture Profile is the set of DMX channel functions assigned to an intelligent (i.e., DMX‑capable) lighting fixture. Such fixtures typically include multiple channels, with channel presets—defined by the manufacturer—that control various functions. For example, a 5‑channel LED fixture may use five sequential DMX channels within a 512‑channel universe, with functions such as:
- Channel 1: Dimmer
- Channel 2: Red
- Channel 3: Green
- Channel 4: Blue
- Channel 5: Shutter / Strobe
This collection of channel attributes is also referred to as the fixture’s personality.
